All the key persons in the editorial department of “Chao” Magazine are gone in one night! Yim Hei (Chan Hung Lit), CEO of Gambo Group Limited Company instantly invites the media excellence Yan Shung (Teresa Mo) to be the Chief Editor of the magazine. Since then, the battle between three fierce career women is getting kick started at Pedder Street of Central!
The arrival of Sheung creates huge pressure to the tyrannical Marketing Manager Ga So Shan (Elaine Jin). CHUNG SIU HO (Louise Lee Sze Kei) and her husband KAM TAI CHO (Ha Yu) have been working hard for many years to establish a famous reputation for their Moonlight Cake Shop. However, HO discovers that CHO commits adultery with her best friend YAN HUNG (Michelle Yim) and she breaks up with him miserably. HO brings along her children KAM WING HO (Raymond Lam), KAM WING HING (Fala Chen) and her adopted daughter SUEN HO YUET (Tavia Yeung Yi) to set up another cake shop for a living.
HUNG moves in to live with CHO and she starts playing tricks in the family. She tries pleasing her mother-in-law SHEH KWAN LAI (Lee Heung Kam) in every ways while disuniting her stepson and CHO. Outside the family, HUNG starts expanding their business rapidly and HO's younger sister CHUNG SIU SA (Susanna Kwan Kuk Ying) is displeased. SA decides to fight for the ownership of their cake shop's brand name in court with HUNG and their relationship with HUNG further deteriorates.
Apart from the cake shop business, HO also spends a lot of efforts on her children. Her oldest son KAM WING KA (Moses Chan Ho) is not interested in managing the cake shop at all and he indulges himself on stock trading. He also develops an entangling relationship with his cousin LO KA MEI (Kate Tsui Tsz Shan) and YUET at the same time. On the other hand, HO's younger son WING HO takes up the role of a father in the family and he works hard all the time to earn a living. WING HO loves his childhood friend CHAU (Linda Chung Ka Yan) whole-heartedly but CHAU is in love with the doctor LING CHI SHUN (Bosco Wong Chung Chak).
HO works hard unconditionally to strive for the well being of her family members. HUNG, on the other hand, is a very mean person who values her own benefits only. CHO is caught between the two women all the time and he feels helpless. One day, a disaster happens at the cake shop. Here comes a time when human nature, family bonds and love are brought to a trail.

The story starts off where Fung Hung Lit (Raymond) was already married to Gun Bing Wun (Sonija). She’s helping Pong Ban (Derek) to recover Fung’s memory and to practice his dark martial arts. Afterwards, Pong Ban starts going after Fung and Fung ends up being saved by Hon Pak (Bosco). The later become good friends.
In all of this, Fung meets Chun Mong Yiu (Charmaine) and their relationship grows everyday. Meanwhile, Hon Pak meets many people that are willing to teach him martial arts so he becomes really good. Hon Pak and Ye Yuut also turn from lovers to siblings. When they find out she was adopted, Ye Yuut has to choose between Lord Yin and Hon Pak.
Pong Ban manages to restore Fung’s memory and they both think of plans to overturn the Ming Dynasty. Hon Pak also turns into Emperor Chu’s most trusted person and since Fung wants to restore the Yuan dynasty, they go from being friends to being enemies. They end up having a war against each other with many innocent lives being lost. In the end, they have a one-on-one fight. The one that loses has to back down and let the other win the war.

The new 2000 version skips Kwok Suern's parts and begins the plot with Chueng Chiu San (Damien Lau Chung Yun) and the clashes for the two legendary weapons that all of the martial world is seeking--the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber. A saying goes in the martial world that whoso holds the Dragon Saber will be able to rule the world unless the Heavenly Sword is there to oppose it. Under circumstances, Chueng Chiu San meets and marry Yun So So (Michelle Mai Shuet), daughter of Tin Ying Clan's White Eye-Browed Eagle King who were deemed by the "good" clans as evil. Swearing brotherhood with Tse Sun, the Golden Haired Lion King who stole the Dragon Saber, everyone is after Chueng Chiu San for information on the whereabout of Tse Sun. As an answer to his third martial brother's paralysis--caused indirectly by Yun So So and her brother--Chueng Chiu San commits suicide while Yun So So follows. Before Yun dies, she tells their son Chueng Mo Kei to remember all the faces of those who forced their deaths for revenge when he grows up.

Laughing graduated from Police Academy with outstanding results but before he was assigned to a post as a police officer, his "bad boy" image attracted the attention of the Head of District Anti-Triad Squad, Superintendent Sin (Yuen Biao) who arranges his assignment as an undercover cop to infiltrate the mob syndicate.
Laughing is now a "double" mole. No. 1 was happy with this turn of events as Laughing was assigned to infiltrate the mob of his triad rival sibling (Francis Ng). To further complicate the situation, Laughing falls in love with Francis's sister, Karen (Fala Chen).
How will Laughing contend with the law, the triad brotherhood, and his love affair? No matter which camp he sides with, he is doomed to be a traitor to the other. Which path will Laughing ultimately choose to follow?
